About once a week I find an app I love. This week, it is Tangerine.

If you have ever seen your favorite songs in wave forms you’ll notice the upbeat ones have jagged contours while the slower ones are softer and more undulating. This tool creates playlists by analyzing those contours and separating the songs based on whether they are “mellow” or “upbeat”. The same friend who showed me the paging album covers app 6 months before Apple bought it passed this one on. Only a matter of time before it gets into an iTunes release.
